Instructions to become a LEADER

The first step you have to begin with is to regard yourself in a mirror, of course not literarily, what I mean by this is looking inside you, and really getting to know yourself thoroughly, see which are your abilities and also your weaknesses. Really get to know who you are and accept yourself with your qualities, strengths and also with your weaknesses. But wait a minute, you have to be careful! Accepting you the way you are doesn´t mean staying that way. I think that would be mediocrity and lack of effort. You have to always have in mind your weaknesses so you can really manage to control them every day and make good habits instead of vices. 

Second step- To be a leader is to be Integer. This means thinking, talking and acting congruently. Be faithful to you. This consists in never betraying yourself by saying things or doing things that are not aligned with who you are. This doesn´t mean to be rude by telling people things about them that will hurt their feelings. But to always look for the right way and place to show your way of thinking, never ignoring others points of views but compare them with yours in a constructive way. And a very important thing is not to be influenced by others thoughts that go against your core values. Sustain them always, doesn´t matter if even your boss is the one that wants to take them away because if you give up your values you are giving up to yourself and that will break you down in pieces. This is why integrity is the most important thing to become a leader, you always have to work on this, and it is not a one day job but an everyday assignment. 

Third step to become a leader- Caring about other people. And this is not only seeing for their necessities but putting them first than yours. Leadership is all about people and this is why the importance of never being selfish by making people work so you can achieve your own goals but it has to be always a common benefit. If you start caring about other´s benefits and needs without looking for your own ones, you will automatically find yourself receiving. To give is to receive and sometimes more than what you expect. Be like the sun. The sun gives all his light to the plants and in return, the plants grow toward the sun. 

Fourth step- Be courageous. Nowadays authentic leaders have to go against the crowd and this takes a lot of courage. It takes courage to do what you know is good. It is not easy to go through the path of resistance because so many people prefer commodity but it is worth to follow the road less traveled and this requires strength to do not what is easy but what is right. 

Fifth step- A person that wants to be a leader has to change his or her way of thinking. We have to stop leaving important subjects in others hands and take them as owns. We have to start leaving aside the thought of changing the world in hands of others like government leaders and people with social influence; we should start asking ourselves what can I do to make a change? And also realize that the world depends on me and it´s in my hands to lead it to a better leaving place or leave it the way I found it. This doesn´t mean that the world will radically change because of you but it does mean that with your contribution, as small as it may seem, you will make a big change. Let´s stop expecting without giving, let´s give it a try and stop living with weak faith and meager goals and instead always looking forward to our illusions and expectations. 

And last but not least, to be a leader you have to persevere. Hold on to your goals in the face of the pressure and stress of your situation. It doesn´t matter how many times you fail but to stand up after your mistakes. Falling will happen and sometimes we can´t do anything to stop it but learning and having the strength to continue is what matters
